Where rocking horse people eat marshmallow pies

Yesterday might best be described as GluttonFest 2007. We went into Manhattan to meet up with B & K (who went into the city earlier than we did to start celebrating K’s birthday) at Monster Sushi in Chelsea for what turned into an overabundance of sake and sushi. Excellent in both areas, the Spanish mackerel was exceptional, at least to me. And the sake was quite good. Our friends I & F joined up with us afterwards, and we sat in a bar for several hours drinking beer and laughing and talking a lot.

We then ended up at BLT Burger for burgers and shakes — and what shakes! Alcohol-infused milkshakes are amazing, my friends. Truly worth checking out at the restaurant mentioned above, even if the burgers are not as great as one might wish. Not that they were bad, mind you — just not the be-all, end-all.

We made it back to the Bronx around 11:30, whereupon B opened up a delightful bottle of 1998 burgundy he picked up earlier in the day in the city. All in all, an excellent way to end a very enjoyable day.

And now we’re getting ready to head out for tonight’s Railroad Earth concert in Morristown NJ (New Riders of the Purple Sage are opening). Yeah, pre-NYE concerts!
