a hobo's song

On Saturday we went to Road Runner Sports in Paramus and I went through a thorough fitting for shoes. I mean thorough. You know, SCIENCE. At the end, I came out with a nice pair of running shoes that fit me beautifully and really help me. Sunday I used them for the first time, and this morning, it was even better.

I know it gets easier the more you run, but I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly. This morning, I ran for longer stretches than a week ago, and I also found that it was easier to run than to stop and walk. As a result, I would start running again sooner than before.

Who knew?

I mean, obviously, everyone who runs. I’m still at the baby steps part of this, but I’m enjoying it immensely and actually looking forward to it. It’s a great way to wake up. I’m very glad I’m making the effort, and carving out a bit of time from my mornings to do this isn’t that difficult — I’ve had a lot of padding built into them for a while now. I expect the time spent running to grow as I begin to run farther, and that’s still okay and works fine with my morning routine.

So yeah, running.
